dottie garret

Dorothy Patricia Garret's father always wanted a son, but was happily surprised to learn that daughters were just as willing to roll up their sleeves, get their hands dirty and work on engines. Having bounced around the Detroit auto scene, which has seen some rocky times, Dottie has picked up many trade skills. She's an accredited mechanic, certified industrial welder and even nabbed herself a commercial driving license.
But Dottie's life changed completely the day Detroit's famed Kronk Gym was demolished in 2017. Her father had rescued a vintage poster of Tommy "Hitman" Hearns at auction. The moment Dottie caught the steely gaze of that Detroit legend she knew she wanted to be a champion. The next morning she walked through the doors of Jabs Gym on Russell St, and 5 years later her dream came true. Dottie Garret, with proud father cheering her on, became the Amateur Women's Golden Gloves Boxing Champ of 2022.
Now Dottie has turned her attention to the EWA. She is determined to win the women's championship belt for her home town--a city which always seems to be brushing itself off and getting back up again hard time after hard time. Through sheer grit, and tireless resolve she is going to keep getting back in the ring until she makes her goal a reality. She's going to show the women of the EWA what this gal from Detroit can do!
